          After the death of a distant friend, I come to realize how fast God can take your life away from you. It has been many weeks since and I still haven't found any sort of closure. It's been busy with drama, homework, and such...but it wasn't until a television series episode that played on Friday where I learn that life is precious.
          My sister showed me a song by a country band named the Band Perry, they had a song named 'If I Die Young.' It is a beautiful ballad that speaks the words of the people that have died way too young...

If I die young, 
           bury me in satin, 
                     Lay me down in a bed of roses,
                                                     Take me to the river at Dawn, 
                                      Send me away with the words of a love song...

         As the character in the drama was counting down her days on earth because of her serious illness, no one could control the fact that she was going to die. Day after day, she became weaker and weaker. At one point, she couldn't even smile. The hurt that surrounded the people she loved was engraved so deeply, it could never be healed.
        At one point, her physical body started shutting down and her dad made the decision to sign a DNR. 'Do not resuscitate.' A simple term that stops the heartbeat of an individual forever. 

What if, I were to die young? What if, God was going to cut my life short?
Would I have left an impact and legacy that I was meant to make?

I know that if this does happen to me, I just want my friends, family to know that I lived everyday to my fullest!

A quote from that drama reminds me that: 
even though a person's heart beat has stopped, but their love still continues to overflow to those around them...

failure. The way I feel about myself today...I did a horrible job and my head is filled with regret. I want to go back and do it all over again but that's simply impossible. Bible study yesterday was a big mess! I felt like I was speaking about the bible but not being productive about it. My group deserved a better bible study leader and a better bible study.         As a long-time asian drama viewer, my friends, family members and I always critique television shows for depicting unrealistic lifestyles and showcasing illogical love stories. Hospital Playlist is a clear exception, as it illustrates the life of five long-time friends who meet in medical school. They eventually wind up working as surgeons in Yulje Hospital. As they deal with the emotional roller coaster that comes with being a doctor, Professor Song-hwa, Ik-Joon, Jun-wan, Seok-Hyung and Jeong-Won also tackle normal life as a 40 year old. Just like ordinary humans, we often forget that doctors are also succumb to sickness, familial problems and career changes. The "slice of life" drama does not shy away from illustrating the two-fold life of a doctor- both as society's superheroes and ordinary individuals.        As an Asian-Canadian, I sincerely thank the producers, actors and writers of "It's Okay Not to Be Okay" for creating a drama that sheds light on mental illnesses and childhood trauma. While illustrating a beautiful love story, they have opened the door for viewers to discuss and reflect on our mental health and emotional burdens. By breaking the stigma around mental health issues, "It's Okay Not to Be Okay" is a healing television series that explores the life of an eccentric fairytale author (Moon-young) and psychiatric hospital nurse (Gang-tae). As we learn about their childhood hardships, viewers embark on a journey where both characters learn to unleash their shackles and live for themselves.
